I’m J.P. Stephens, a photographer, webmaster, designer, and sometime musician hailing from and residing in famously hot Columbia, S.C..

Sporting both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in philosophy, I move through life with an insatiable urge to seek out the essence of things—whether people, ideas, books, or films. I bring this essentialism to all of my work as I seek to find and communicate the essence of my subject.  Whether it’s an advertisement, a portrait, or the bass line to a song about a giant cookie, I strive to strip away what is unessential and highlight what is fundamental and unique.
